Our oceans cover 70% of our planet. They are a primary source of food and income for some 3.5 billion people around the world. Yet, our oceans are being pushed to the brink.
Overfishing and unscrupulous activities by pirate fishers are leaving our oceans on the edge of total collapse, and as operators look to plunder our exhausted oceans further, to supply Western markets with cheap seafood, many resort to slave labour - enforced by violence - to keep costs down.
EJF is working to protect the oceans, end pirate fishing and stamp out the human rights abuses driven by this illicit activity. By doing so we aim to protect the millions of people that depend on our oceans and for the magnificent and varied wildlife that call them home.
