Vivienne Westwood's TShirt for EJF at London Fashion Week

By EJF Staff

British Fashion legend Dame Vivienne Westwood presented EJF’s latest organic T-shirt at her catwalk show on Sunday 19 February at London Fashion Week 2012. The iconic designer was inspired to create the bespoke t-shirt for EJF’s climate refugee campaign No Place Like Home.

Vivienne Westwood’s Red Label collection was launched in support of EJF’s No Place like Home campaign to an audience of celebrity fans, including front row enthusiasts Sadie Frost, Mary Charteris and Heston Blumenthal. The T-shirt was not only presented on catwalk models but also worn by Vivienne Westwood herself to promote the campaign.

As with all of EJF’s T-shirts, Westwood’s design is organic, ethically made and carbon-neutral. Profits will go to EJF’s campaign to support the rights of climate refugees who currently have no legal recognition or status.

In 2010, more than 38 million people were displaced from their homes by natural disasters such as flooding, storms and other extreme weather events. The majority of these people were the planet’s poorest and most vulnerable who had contributed to the least to climate change, yet felt its impact the most.

Funds raised from the T-shirts will help EJF’s work to address the future of climate refugees by working towards establishing a new legally binding agreement that gives them legal recognition, assistance and protection.

The T-shirt will be available from 4th May 2012 at Selfridges in London, Vivienne Westwood stores and at EJF Online Shop.

"What we’re talking about regarding climate change refugees is total chaos, where natural disasters are more intense and more often. The world is giving us this warning of more horror to come.” Dame Vivienne Westwood
“This T-shirt demonstrates the highest possible standards in an industry that is often criticised for falling short of the mark. Buying this T-shirt supports EJF’s work protecting some of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people.” Steve Trent, EJF Executive Director
