This weekend EJF launched a new pop up shop 'JUST...BIG TREES little bees' selling our unique, designer, organic t-shirts for charity.

20 Fouberts Place W1F 7PL, just off London's iconic Carnaby Street, is the new home of ‘JUST…BIG TREES little Bees’ in celebration of our new Woodland Project and our successful Save the Bees campaign bringing nature to the busy West End.

Open until 15th August ‘JUST… BIG TREES little bees’ features a new range of EJF bee t-shirt designs by The Rodnik Band and Rapanui, as well as the classic ‘Save the Future’ design by Katharine Hamnett and Vivienne Westwood’s Climate t-shirt which is exclusive to EJF.

As part of our Bee Campaign, in partnership with PAN UK, EJF organised The March of the Beekeepers on Parliament Square in April as a demonstration ahead of a major vote at the European Parliament, which saw a 2-year ban on bee-harming Neonicotinoid pesticides come into place.

EJF is investing in woodland populated with deciduous tree species native to the UK in order to offset the negative impact of EJF’s unavoidable carbon emissions. The woodland will act as a carbon sink and will be managed sustainably to protect habitats in particular for bees and other pollinators, which are crucial to the UK’s food security and are in severe decline for a variety of reasons including loss of habitat, pesticides and adverse weather conditions. The Woodlands Project will also protect the environments for other vulnerable insects, animal and bird species. The area of woodland will initially be 5 acres (approximately the length of a football pitch squared) and will be extended over time. EJF will be asking customers at the ‘JUST… BIG TREES little bees’ shop to donate an optional £1 on every t-shirt purchase to contribute towards The Woodland Project in recognition of the carbon emissions of washing a t-shirt for its lifecycle.

EJF’s extensive line of designer t-shirts are all made from 100% organic, carbon neutral and fairly traded cotton. As part of EJF’s campaign to ‘Pick your Cotton Carefully’ the t-shirts aim to raise awareness of the issues, such as forced child labour and deadly pesticides, that surround the cotton industry encouraging consumers to think about where their cotton comes from. All proceeds made from the t-shirts go directly to the charity.

Top designers such as Vivienne Westwood, Katharine Hamnett, Giles Deacon, Alice Temperley and Christian Lacroix have all supported EJF by creating bespoke designs and a host of EJF celebrity supporters have worn our t-shirts including Lily Cole, Naomi Campbell, Emilia Fox, Gemma Kidd, James Blunt, Gillian Anderson and many more. We are also proud to have been a finalist for the Ethical Fashion Forum's Source Awards 2012.

EJF have been lucky to run multiple pop-up shops in central London donated by Shaftesbury Plc, on Carnaby Street and in the surrounding areas of Covent Garden and Soho. Most recently, EJF ran the ‘Not JUST for the Weekend’ pop-up, on 8 Ganton Street, in partnership with new fashion YouTube channel FashtagTV.

EJF’s ‘JUST’ shop at 46 Carnaby Street was open for 4 months and sold over 2,500 t-shirts, raising over £25,000 for the charity. These funds are extremely valuable and will go towards EJF’s international work which aims to end forced child labour and the use of deadly pesticides in the cotton industry, eradicate illegal pirate fishing in West Africa, protect bees and pollinators in the UK and secure legally binding protection and assistance for climate refugees.
