Driftnets are an indiscriminate fishing method consisting of nets which can measure tens of kilometres, suspended vertically in the water column. This investigation examined the widespread illegal use of driftnets by Moroccan vessels in the Alboran Sea, a Mediterranean biodiversity hotspot.
