Jul 13, 2022The People's COP27Read
The People’s COP27 is a platform for the voices shut out of COP27. Stories from the frontlines of the climate crisis and an online high-level plenary event will deliver messages from marginalised people to the politicians making decisions about how the world is meeting the challenges of climate breakdown.
We will gather perspectives and messages from communities and organisations around the world and together, present a list of clear, concrete and actionable demands to global decision makers as they go into the COP27 negotiations.
By listening carefully to those experiencing the impacts of the climate emergency and to the visionaries across the world who have the solutions we need, by standing together and calling for action with one voice, we can make ourselves heard and catalyse the action we need to ensure a liveable future on Earth.

This report highlights how the climate crisis is fuelling inequalities within and between countries worldwide, with low-income, marginalised people in both developed and developing countries being disproportionately affected by climate breakdown. The sea is a good friend of mine: Taiwanese Amis fishers and the climate crisis
The Taiwanese Amis fishers' intimate cultural connection with the sea is under threat as the climate crisis makes age-old fishing practices impossible. We must reduce our emissions & support Indigenous-led restoration efforts to maintain healthy oceans and ensure their rights are protected.

Apr 22, 2022Ocean action is climate action: A secure biodiverse ocean is key for climate mitigation and the protection of coastal communitiesRead
A healthy ocean, with abundant biodiversity, is fundamental to our life on Earth. As the world’s largest active carbon sink, the ocean is the greatest nature-based solution for climate change mitigation and its marine ecosystems offer essential adaptation opportunities.1Well over three billion people depend on marine and coastal biodiversity for their livelihoods.
This policy briefing by the Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) and Oceana lists actions the German G7 Presidency should take to achieve a 30x30 ocean protection plan which safeguards biodiversity, advances the goals of the Paris Agreement and protects the human rights of coastal communities.
